Abstract

In Indonesia, the frequent problem that occurs is flooding. Palembang is a city that is not free from these problems, especially around Kol. H. Burlian street. Flooding can be caused by several factors, one of which is the lack of good drainage system in the area. If the problem is not quickly resolved, then there will be new problems that will interfere with the activity of the population. In this research will be planned construction of retention ponds in the area Punti Kayu Palembang by using a pump system. The purpose of this study was to determine the direct runoff hydrograph, retention ponds required dimensions and specifications of the pump to be used in the retention ponds. This study consists of several stages and using calculations modelling with the help of HEC HMS program. Modelling is made in accordance with pre-defined catchment area to determine how much area retention ponds and reservoirs are needed and how much flow out of the retention ponds. Furthermore, the results of this modeling compared with the results of manual calculations that have been done before. Based on the results of the calculation of the direct runoff hydrograph obtained Qpeak value of 16 m3/s. Planned retention pond has an area of 3 hectares or 30,000 m2 with an altitude of 5 m or in other words, this pool has a catchment of 150,000 m3 and is assisted by the first pump maximum discharge capacity of 4.6 m3 / s at the head height of 2 m. From the results of this study showed that the presence of such planning the construction of retention ponds above can overcome the flooding problems that often occur in the vicinity of Kol. H. Burlian Street Palembang.
