Abstract

Rice was the staple food of the Indonesian people, which was then processed into rice. Its role was not only limited to producing value added and providing employment. The occurrence of the transition of the harvesting process from manual to using a combine harvester machine could result in differences in rice production and income of rice farmers due to differences in the harvesting process. The objectives of this research were: (1) To analyze rice production before and after the use of combine harvester machines in Cahya Maju Village, Lempuing Sub-district, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. (2) To analyze the income of rice farmers who used combine harvester machines in Cahya Maju Village, Lempuing District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. (3) To analyze the difference in income of rice farmers before and after using the combine harvester machine in Cahya Maju Village, Lempuing District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. This research was conducted in Cahya Maju Village, Lempuing District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency in February 2024. The sampling method used in this study was the random sampling method. The number of samples in this study was 30 farmers. The types of data collected in this study were primary data and secondary data. The results of this study were: (1) There was a difference between the net production of rice before and after the use of combine harvester machines with the average rice production before the use of combine harvester machines being 6.070 kilograms while rice production after the use of combine harvester machines was 7.326 kilograms. Therefore, it was known that the difference between the two was 1.256 kilograms, (2) Rice farm income after using the combine harvester machine in Cahya Maju Village was Rp35.880.500 per cultivated area and per growing season while the income before the use of the combine harvester machine is Rp25.320.583 per cultivated area and per growing season which means that income after the use of the combine harvester machine increases, (3) There was a significant difference in income between the income of rice farming before and after the use of combine harvester machines.
