Abstract
This study aims to determine and study the performance test of a hand tractor with variations in ballast load, forward speed and depth stabilizer against plowing time. This research was carried out from June 2023 to July 2023 at the Practicum and Research Garden, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University and Mechanical Laboratory, Soil and Water Engineering, Agricultural Engineering Study Program, Sriwijaya University. The method used was a randomized factorial block design (FRBD) with three treatment factors, namely ballast load (W) consisting of two treatment factor levels, namely without ballast and 100 kg load, forward speed (V) consisting of two treatment factor levels, namely speed 3, 5 km/hour and 4 km/hour, and the depth stabilizer (S) consists of two levels of treatment factors, namely without depth stabilizer and with depth stabilizer. The research parameters consist of main and supporting parameters. The main parameters are Travel Time and Supporting Parameters including Moisture Content, Bulk Density, Wheel Slip, Tractor Forward Speed, Fuel Consumption, Wheel Load Pressure, Soil Turning Width, Soil Turning Percentage, and Plowing Depth. The results showed that the depth stabilizer had a significant effect on the plowing time. The depth stabilizer treatment resulted in the lowest average value of plowing travel time in treatment S2 (with depth stabilizer) which was 28.20 seconds and the highest average value of plowing travel time in treatment S1 (without depth stabilizer) which was 37.65 second.
