Abstract

Stunting is a growth and development disorder in children due to chronic malnutrition and recurrent infections which is characterized by PB/U or TB/U based on z-score values ranging from -3 SD to -2 SD. According to WHO, one of the causes of stunting in under-aged children is complementary food for breast milk (MP-ASI). When gave MP-ASI to children, it must be in accordance with the requirements, namely paying attention to the food group consumed. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between the diversity of MP-ASI provision and the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 6-24 months in the Taman Bacaan Community Health Center working area, Palembang City. This type of research is quantitative research using a cross sectional design. The subjects in this study were 70 toddlers aged 6-24 months. The number of samples was taken by purposive sampling. The instrument in this research used the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). The data taken in this research included data on respondent characteristics, mother characteristics, exclusive breastfeeding, diversity of MP- ASI and the incidence of stunting. Statistical analysis in this study used the Chi Squre correlation test. The results showed that based on the characteristics of the respondents' mothers, it was found that the majority of the respondents' mothers were highly educated (55,7%), the majority of the respondents' mothers were not working (82,9%). Based on the characteristics of the respondents, it was found that the majority of respondents were aged 12- 24 months (61,4%), the majority of respondents were female (57,1%), the majority of respondents did not receive exclusive breastfeeding (60,0%). Based on the stunting incident category, it was found that the majority of respondents were not stunted (70%) and stunted (30%). Based on the MP-ASI diversity category, most respondents received a no variety of MP- ASI (30%). There is no significant relationship between the diversity of MP-ASI and the incidence of stunting (p-value 0,306).
