Abstract

The research conducted to analyze the financial feasibility of using mechanical oil palm harvesting tools and compare the operational costs of using mechanical oil palm harvesting tools with three types of blades, namely chisel, sickle, and chainsaw and the cost of manual work with chisel and sickles blades in the oil palm harvesting process. This research used descriptive method with a quantitative approach involving financial data analysis of oil palm harvesting tools. The analysis method used the financial analysis method and business feasibility, namely Net Present Value (NPV) and Benefit-Cost Ratio (B/C Ratio). The results showed that the total cost of manual oil palm harvesting with chisel and sickle was Rp 4,843,442 and Rp 4,918,342 per year, respectively, while the total cost with mechanical tools chisel, sickle, and chainsaw was Rp 3,510,949, Rp 3,526,778, and Rp 3,513,432 per year, respectively. The cost of manual harvesting with chisel and sickle amounted to Rp 1,073/bunch and Rp 932/bunch, while with mechanical tools chisel, sickle, and chainsaw amounted to Rp 389/bunch, Rp 270/bunch, and Rp 430/bunch, respectively. Financial analysis showed that the use of mechanized tools requires a larger initial investment, but can increase efficiency and potentially higher profits in the long run. The feasibility analysis shows that harvesting oil palms using manual and mechanized tools is feasible. The results of the calculations showed that the use of mechanical grinders in oil palm harvesting is the most profitable, with a total cost of harvesting of IDR 3,526,778 per year, a BEP of 4,731 bunches per year, an NPV of IDR 6,420,126, and a B/C Ratio of 1.5.
