Abstract

This research is entitled "Tourism Development Strategy during the Covid-19 Pandemic in South Sumatra Province". This research aims to find out what are the impacts of the spread of covid-19 in South Sumatra Province on development in the tourism sector. This research is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. This study uses the theory of tourism development strategies according to Godfrey and Clarke which are used as a reference in knowing how the course of tourism development in South Sumatra Province is based on the Regional Regulation of South Sumatra Province Number 9 of 2016 concerning Tourism Implementation, then the results of the description of the theory are analyzed using the SWOT analysis method. The results showed that the tourism development process in South Sumatra Province had weaknesses that were the impact of the spread of the covid-19 pandemic, such as a decrease in the level of tourist visits which made several tourist destinations experience a decrease in income and business actors in the tourism sector had to adapt to the conditions of the pandemic that hit.
