Abstract

This research aims to determine the social needs of pre-elderly housewives in Timbangan Village, Ogan Ilir Regency. This research uses a descriptive qualitative research approach. In this study there were 7 pre-elderly housewives. Data collection techniques in this research used observation, interviews, FGD and documentation techniques. Based on the results of data analysis in this research, it can be concluded that social needs can be seen through 5 indicators of social needs, namely 1) the need for love, Pre-Elderly Housewives have received attention and affection from their families and society. 2) The need for a sense of belonging, housewives actively participate in morning exercise, but there is no special exercise community for mothers. The existing community is in the form of recitations and social gatherings. 3) The need to socialize, Housewives often socialize and interact with the surrounding community and are comfortable in the environment. This social need is quite fulfilled for pre-elderly housewives. 4) The need for friendship, pre-elderly housewives have good relationships with neighbors and generally recognize that neighbors are close friends who play an important role in providing emotional support and sharing experiences. 5) Need for social support, housewives have received social support from family, community and local government. Social support obtained from the family is in the form of helping each other in the household, providing love and attention, social support from neighbors/community in the form of working together, sharing information and resources, social support from the government in the form of fulfilling basic needs such as rice and others Keywords: Social Needs, Housewives, Pre-Elderly
