Abstract

Botryococcus braunii microalgae is a green single-cell plant that lives in freshwater and is known for its benefits and high production costs. One of the efforts to overcome production costs is using snakehead fish farming wastewater as a growing medium for B. braunii. Several studies using wastewater media have shown less efficient growth of B. braunii due to limited production costs, so it is necessary to add Chu-13 fertilizer. Chu-13 fertilizer as a growing medium for B. braunii is still not known to be the best dose in snakehead fish farming wastewater. This research aimed to determine the optimum dose of Chu-13 fertilizer on day 8 cell density, specific growth rate, and lipid content of B. braunii using snakehead fish farming wastewater. This research was conducted at the Basic Fisheries Laboratory, Aquaculture Laboratory and Experimental Pond, Aquaculture Study Programme and Microbiology Laboratory. Aquaculture Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Programme and Microbiology and Biotechnology Laboratory of Fishery Products, Fishery Product Technology Study Programme, Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University in January-February 2024. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. Different doses of Chu-13 fertilizer in each treatment consisted of 0.00 mL (P0), 0.25 mL (P1), 0.50 mL (P2), 0.75 mL (P3), and 1.00 mL (P4). The results of this research showed that the Chu-13 fertilizer dose of 0.75 mL (P3) was the best dose with a cell density on day 8 of 34.27 6 cells mL-1 and a specific growth rate of 22.88% day-1, BOD5 reduction of 79.67%, ammonia reduction of 88.28% and lipid percentage of 62.02%.
