Abstract

PT. Bukit Asam (Persero), Tbk. a coal mining company to meet the needs of the industry. The largest consumer of coal PT. Bukit Asam (Persero), Tbk. is industrial steam power plants both domestically and internationally. To distribute its products to the consumers of coal that has been mined in Tanjung Enim sent to Unit Pier Kertapai located in Palembang, South Sumatra and Lampung EVAL Pier Unit to use owned railway company PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI). As the starting gate handling of coal before it is sent to the consumer, then the quality of coal is expected to be in accordance with the request specifications desired by the customer (PT. Bukit Asam Tbk.). This analytical work done during one month, on July 18 until August 18, 2016 at Pier Unit Kertapati, by analyzing 30 samples of coal types AL-55 sent from Tanjung Enim. The results of the analysis of 30 samples of coal showed an increase in value - average total moisture and ash content. The average value of total moisture of all samples currently in Tanjung Enim was 22.4%, after it is received in Derti Unit has increased the total moisture of 1.3% to 23.7%. The average value of ash content of all samples currently in Tanjung Enim coal at 4.3% and also increased the value of ash content after it is received and analyzed in Unit Derti by 0.9% to 5.2%. Increasing the value of total moisture and ash content of coal can be caused by rain activity that occurs during the process of shipping coal. According to the data of rainfall in July, that at the time of shipment of coal from Tanjung Enim to Pier Unit Kertapati rain events occur. Rain that occurs can increase the water content in the coal and make coal into a wet surface that facilitates dust and contaminant easier to stick in the coal at the time of delivery. The increase in the average value of total moisture and ash content resulted in an average calorific value has decreased. The average calorific value of 30 samples currently in Tanjung Enim coal amounted to 5,525 kCal / kg, once received and analyzed in Unit Derti decrease caloric value of 206 kCal / kg to 5319 kCal / kg. It is the basis for doing research on changes in coal quality shipped from Tanjung Enim to Derti Unit.
