Abstract

The research objective was to determine the role of optimism to future orientation on andikpas at LPKA Klas I Palembang. The hypothesis of this research has a role of optimism to future orientation on andikpas at LPKA Klas I Palembang. The study used a quantitative method with collecting technique using probability sampling without used a special technique for sample selection to 110 andikpas at LPKA Klas I Palembang. Future orientation and optimism andikpas wa measured by the scale of future orientation and optimism refers to the component of future orientation from Nurmi, Poole, and Seginer (Seginer, 2009) and the aspect of optimism from Seligman (2006). Data analyzed using simple regression analysis. The result of the regression analysis shows value of R=0,397; F=385,200 and p=0,000 (<0,05). It shows that optimism has significant role to the future orientation. The contribution of R square = 0,157, which means the magnitude of the role of competitiveness in influencing motivation is 78,1%. Thus the hypothesis is accepted that there is a role of optimism toward future orientation on andikpas at LPKA Klas I Palembang.
