Abstract

The research objective was to determine the role of social support to entrepreneurial success on entrepreneurs in Palembang. The study hypothesis includes major hypothesis on social support and minor hypothesis on types of social support has a role to entrepreneurs in Palembang. The study population was all the entrepreneurs in Palembang and 150 entrepreneurs were used for the research sample. Social support and entrepreneurial success was measured by the scale of social support and entrepreneurial success, with reference to the types of social support from Schaefer, Coyne, and Lazarus (Mattson & Hall, 2011) and the aspects of entrepreneurial success from Fisher, et al. (2013). Multiple regression analysis was used for the data analysis. The result of the regression analysis on major hypothesis obtained by value of R square = 0,370, and p = 0,000 (<0,05). On minor hypothesis obtained by value p = 0,000 on network support, and p = 0,043 on tangible support. It shows that social support, network support, and tangible support have significant role to the entrepreneurial success. Thus, the major hypothesis was accepted but on minor hypotheses, only the third and the fifth were accepted.
