Abstract

Coal mining owned by the community is one of the coal mining activities carried out by local communities on a small scale and in mutual cooperation as a form of livelihood. This community mining sometimes does not meet standards in environmental aspects, so it is destructive to nature and causes disruption of the balance between the environment and natural resource management. These exploitation activities can have an impact on the quality of the community's environment, especially on the quality of river flows if allowed to continue. Therefore, the aim of this research is to determine the status of the water quality of the Panasan river which is affected by small-scale coal mining in the research area, by analyzing the quality of the river water using physical and chemical laboratory testing parameters according to the requirements of class 1 water quality standards. River water refers to the parameters in accordance with Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021, then determines the standard status of river water quality using the pollution index method (Pollution Index) and water quality index (IKA) in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of the Environment No. 115 of 2003. Results testing of 2 sample points at AAT observation locations based on TSS, pH, Fe and Mn parameters did not meet the established quality standards. For the AAT sample, the TSS parameter results obtained at the AT1 location were 835 mg/l, and at the AT2 location it was 561 mg/l, this shows that the results of the coal mine acid water characterization exceeded the permitted quality requirements, namely 400 mg/l. then the pH parameter results obtained at location ATI were 2.3, and at location AT2 it was 4.1, also exceeding the permitted quality requirements, namely a minimum of 6-9. Likewise for iron parameters, at location ATI it was 20.08 mg 1, and at the AT2 location it was 7.73 mg/l, exceeding the permitted quality requirement of 7 mg/l. The manganese parameter at the AT1 location is 7.9 mg/l, and at the AT2 location it is 4.8 mg/l, exceeding the permitted quality requirements, namely 7 mg/l. The results of testing and analysis of physical and chemical parameters of river water, where data was obtained on the quality of river water quality, guided by Indonesian Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021. For observation locations S1 and S2, each only met 5 parameters out of a total of 22 parameters. The physics and chemistry tested, for the S3 observation location has 12 test parameters that meet, the S4 observation location has a total of 16 parameters that meet, and the S5 and S6 observation locations each have 19 parameters that meet quality standards. In the research area, river water quality status was assessed using the pollution index method and river water quality index in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of the Environment No. 115 of 2003. For the Sl observation location, the index value was 5.91 with the moderately polluted category, and had a weight value. river quality by 60% For the S2 observation location, it has an index value of 5.37 in the moderately polluted category, and has a river quality weight value of 60% The S3 observation location has a pollution index value of 4.29, the S4 observation location has a pollution index value of 3.12, the S5 observation location has a pollution index value of 3.08, and the S6 observation location has a pollution index value of 2.99. Observation locations S3, S4, S5, and S6 are both included in the lightly polluted category, with a river quality weight value of 80% So this condition is dangerous for the community and environment around the Enim River.
