Abstract
A routing protocol (RPL) specifically designed for networks with low power and high loss, such as Wireless Sensor Networks. RPL can be optimized for Energy Efficiency, due to limited resources and weak connections, the probability of network disconnection is quite high.This will cause losses resulting in more amount of energy consumption at the nodes to retransmit the packets. In this regard, Reliable and Energy-Efficient RPL (REFER) attempts to improve the energy efficiency of nodes and enhance the reliability of communication by using different metrics. The results of this study prove that the REFER method can improve communication in the network and can reduce the amount of energy consumed with a distance between clusters 1 and 2 of 36.76 m, a distance between clusters 3 and 4 of 33.42 m, an ETX value of 1, an ELT of 3.602 seconds, and a PDR ratio of 100%.
