Abstract

Diarrhoea is a disease caused by poor sanitation. Data from the Way Kanan District Health Office in 2022 showed that there were 3592 cases of diarrhoea and ranked the first cause of Post Neonatal deaths due to diarrhoeal disease, which amounted to 5 cases of death. In a period of ± 3 months there were 37 cases of diarrhoea in the working area of the Tanjung Rejo Health Centre, Way Kanan Regency, believed to be related to poor sanitation conditions. This study aims to analyse the relationship between the implementation of the Community-Based Total Sanitation program with the incidence of diarrhoea with a cross sectional research design with 54 respondents using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test. The results showed that 29 respondents who experienced diarrhoea and 25 respondents who did not experience diarrhoea. In this study, there is a relationship between the application of STBM pillars with the incidence of diarrhoea, namely in pillar 2 (p = 0.013 <0.05); pillar 3 (p = 0.000 <0.05); pillar 4 (p = 0.007 <0.05); pillar 5 (p = 0.001 <0.05); There is no relationship between the application of STBM pillars with the incidence of diarrhoea, namely in pillar 1 (p = 0.358>0.05). With p = 0.000, the relationship between the application of pillar 3, namely the Management of Drinking Water and Household Food, has the most influence on the incidence of diarrhoea. It is necessary to educate the community in the Tanjung Rejo Health Centre working area about the importance of implementing the Community-Based Total Sanitation Program.
