Abstract
Mine drainage can’t be separated part of mine operation. If mine drainage is not implemented well, mine operation will be interfered. At PT. Bukit Asam (Persero), Tbk, mine drainage system is done by flowing the run off water in mine pit which has been collected in sump and pumping it out of the pit. Catchment area at Pit 1 Barat Bangko Barat front mine is 70,76 Ha. The sump in Pit 1 is located at 24 mAsl. Pumping system at Pit 1 is using 3 385kwh Sulzer pump which is connected by 324 meters High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipeline to the settling pond. Based on field research, the actual pump discharge from each line is 10,7m3/minute meanwhile the pump specification is 14 m3/minute. From the calculation, the pump supply is sufficient but the operation time of the pump is not optimal. Research shows that target pump production is not fulfilled yet, it can be seen that there is water which is still flooding the mine front. The problem can be solved by optimzing the pumps work schedule and substituting the pipe which appropriate with the pump specification, and pump-pipe lines maintenance periodically.
