Abstract
TIN PROCESSING AT PT TIMAH TBK PRODUCES HUGE AMOUNTS OF TAILINGS. THE TAILINGS STILL CONTAIN MANY VALUABLE MINERALS, ONE OF WHICH IS THE MINERAL ILMENITE (FETIO3). ILMENITE MINERAL HAS GREAT POTENTIAL FOR VARIOUS HIGH-PERFORMANCE EQUIPMENT PURPOSES. HOWEVER, IN INDONESIA, THE MINERAL ILMENITE IS ONLY PRODUCED AS A BY-PRODUCT. BASED ON ITS MAGNETIC PROPERTIES, TO OPTIMIZE THE RECOVERY OF ILMENITE MINERALS TO SUIT PT TIMAH TBK'S COMPANY TARGETS, A PROCESSING PROCESS, ONE OF WHICH USES A MAGNETIC SEPARATOR, MUST BE CARRIED OUT. PROCESSING IS INFLUENCED BY SEVERAL VARIABLES THAT CAN AFFECT ILMENITE CONTENT AND RECOVERY. THEREFORE, THIS RESEARCH AIMS TO ANALYZE THE INITIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SAMPLE, VARYING VARIABLES IN THE FORM OF GRAIN SIZE, MAGNETIC DRUM SPEED, AND FEED DISTANCE TO ANALYZE GRADE GAIN AND RECOVERY AFTER PROCESSING AND ANALYZE THE INFLUENCE OF THESE VARIABLES. TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT ON LAND MINING SAMPLES ORIGINATING FROM THE TERTIARY TAILINGS SHAKING TABLE OF PT TIMAH TBK JOB SITE PT BUMAKO, PEMALI DISTRICT. RESEARCH METHODS INCLUDE SAMPLING, SAMPLE PREPARATION, INITIAL CHARACTERISTIC TESTING, EXPERIMENTATION, GRAIN COUNTING ANALYSIS, AND REGRESSION ANALYSIS USING SPSS SOFTWARE. PROCESSING PRODUCES THE HIGHEST ILMENITE CONTENT AT A GRAIN SIZE OF -150# WITH A MAGNETIC DRUM SPEED OF 7 RPM AND A FEED DISTANCE OF 4 CM IS 41.27%. THE HIGHEST RECOVERY WAS 65.02% AT A FRACTION SIZE OF 100# WITH A MAGNETIC DRUM SPEED OF 7 RPM AND A FEED DISTANCE OF 20 CM. THE COMBINATION OF VARIABLES HAD AN INFLUENCE OF 97.1% ON GRADE AND AN INFLUENCE OF 87.2% ON RECOVERY. GRAIN SIZE HAS A NEGATIVE INFLUENCE ON GRADE AND A POSITIVE INFLUENCE ON RECOVERY, FEED DISTANCE HAS A NEGATIVE INFLUENCE ON GRADE & POSITIVE INFLUENCE ON RECOVERY, AND DRUM SPEED HAS A NEGATIVE INFLUENCE ON GRADE AND RECOVERY
