Abstract

The Human Development Index (HDI) is one of the main indicators used to measure the progress of a region in terms of health, education, and income. Population health is one of the main focuses of sustainable development, but how significant the factors associated with health status in urban and rural areas in Indonesia have not been analyzed in more depth. This study aims to determine the factors associated with population health status in urban and rural areas in Indonesia. This study used secondary data from the World Value Survey with a cross sectional research design. Sampling using total sampling with a sample of 2913 respondents. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis on complex samples. The results showed that the variables associated with health status in rural residents were marital status and education level (p-value <0.05). The variable associated with health status in urban residents was marital status (p-value < 0.05). The government should expand opportunities for people to receive scholarships and financial assistance for families with low education levels to access higher education and develop pre-marriage and marriage counseling programs involving mental health service providers that include stress management in the pre-marriage and marriage process.
