Abstract

Mosques are one of the public places that have the potential to transmit disease. The large number of visitors means that all types of diseases brought by visitors can be transmitted through air, prayer equipment and water. Thus, there is a need for mosque sanitation to prevent disease transmission. Environmental sanitation in several mosques in North Indralaya District does not meet health requirements. This research aims to analyze the sanitary conditions of mosques in North Indralaya District. The research method uses a qualitative research design in the form of in-depth interviews, observation and photovoice. This research was carried out in 2 mosques with a total of 8 informants selected using the purposive sampling method. The provision of clean water at mosques in North Indralaya District is quite good, water is stored in tendons and water storage tanks. One of the mosques has a toilet that is dirty and unfit for use. There is a mosque waste water drainage channel in North Indralaya District that does not meet the requirements, is not closed, is not smooth and pollutes the environment. Mosques in North Indralaya District each have more than 2 trash bins. The number of prayer mats still does not match the number of mosque visitors. Mosque cleanliness management in North Indralaya District still needs to be improved, especially the issue of cleanliness of prayer equipment such as prayer mats and mukenah.
