Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) cases in Palembang City showed an increase in 2022. The incidence rate (IR) of TB is greatly influenced by host factors (age, gender, and BCG immunization coverage) and environment (population density and regional altitude). To understand the distribution of TB cases in Palembang City by sub-district, it is necessary to conduct research using geographic information systems (GIS). This study aims to provide an overview of the relationship between TB IR levels and population density, TB cases based on age, gender, regional altitude, and BCG immunization coverage as well as its spatial picture in Palembang City from 2018 to 2022. The research design used is a descriptive ecological study with the research population covering all sub-districts in Palembang City. The analysis was carried out using univariate, bivariate (spearman), and spatial analysis was carried out with secondary data. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between TB cases based on age and sex and TB IR in 2018-2022. In terms of spatial mapping, population density, regional altitude and BCG immunization coverage did not show an effect on TB IR in Palembang City. Suggestions for the Palembang City Health Office to increase community empowerment and support TB researchers. Further research needs in-depth observation of data availability and expanding the scope of variables, including socio-demographic and socio-economic aspects.
