Abstract
This research was conduted in Entomological laboratory aimed at knowing the life cycle of pollinating beetle (E. kamerunicus) on male flower of oil palm {E. guineensis) in laboratory. The research was conducted from October until December 2004 in Entomological Laboratory, Department of Plant Pest and Diseases, Sriwijaya University. The research was arranged in tabulation method with 10 replications. The results of the research showed that numbers of eggs, larvae, pupae and adult producted were very different among replication, and so was the life cycle of the beetle. This could be seen from the obtained results, egg hatched three days after being laid, larvae period ranged from 4 to 5 days ang pupal period varied from 7 to 8 days. The different of larval and pupal periods depended on several factor, internal and externa! factors. Foodstuff factor also plaid important role in breeding of the beetle. This will eventually affected the quality and life cycle of the pollinating beetle on oil palm flower. •
