Abstract
This research aims to analyze the tensile strength and microstructure of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) filaments with variations in infill and speed at a nozzle diameter of 0.4 mm and a layer thickness of 0.2 mm. The research method involves making test specimens using a 3D printing machine, followed by tensile strength testing using a Zwick Roell Z020 tensile tester and microstructure analysis using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The test results show that variations in infill parameters and speed significantly influence the tensile strength of the PET filament. Specimens with 20% infill and a printing speed of 30 mm/s have an average tensile strength of 29.0 MPa, with a tensile strength range between 0 MPa to 38.3 MPa. SEM analysis shows that the filament microstructure influences the stress distribution and layer bonding during the printing process. The conclusion of this research is that setting the right printing parameters can increase the tensile strength and microstructural quality of PET filament, so it has potential for applications that require materials with high mechanical strength. This research also provides insight into the use of PET filament as an alternative material in the 3D printing process.
