Abstract

Immunization is an attempt to give a vaccine to a person body so it can lead to immunity againts a particular disease. According to the Ministry of Health of the Republic Indonesia, the number of basic immunization coverage in Indonesia has increased, but in some areas still found coverage rate below national standard. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of knowledge level to the completeness of basic immunization in children aged 12-23 months. This study used cross-sectional design, The sample in this research is mothers who have children aged 12-23 chosen based on Stratified Random Sampling method. Analysis of bivariate data with chi-square and multivariate test with multiple logistic regression. The prevalence of basic immunization completeness in children aged 12-23 months is 61.1%. The results of bivariate analysis showed that maternal knowledge was related to completeness of basic immunization (p-value = <0.001). The result of multivariate analysis showed that high mother's knowledge level is 5,987 times greater for experiencing basic immunization completeness in children than mothers with low knowledge level (95% CI 1,628-22,015) after controlled variable of child number, distance, family support, family income and education level. Maternal knowledge has a great influence on the completeness of basic immunization in children aged 12-23 months in Indralaya Puskesmas work area of Ogan Ilir Regency after controlled by variable of number of children, distance, family support, family income and education level. Therefore, mothers who have children are expected to fully immunize children and immunization officers can carry out extension activities in the form of health education to the community regarding the importance of immunization.
