Abstract

Cultural Diplomacy is a soft power approach of a country in the study of international relations. The data collection technique uses primary and secondary data sources. Data validity techniques through source triangulation. Data analysis techniques use qualitative data analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing or verification. The results of this study show that Cultural Diplomacy is a very effective way to fulfill national interests. Cultural diplomacy shows that national interests do not always have to use political and violent things. Cultural Diplomacy has four indicators, namely; uniqueness, specific superiority, symbols of stability and effectiveness and efficiency. The success in introducing Indonesian culture, especially songket cloth, can be seen from several events that have been attended by the Indonesian Ministry and songket craftsmen in order to improve Indonesia's image and further strengthen relations between Indonesia and Malaysia, through these events informing all Malaysian people that this songket cloth is a cultural product typical of Indonesia with a variety of motifs and colors based on regions in Indonesia.
