Abstract
The aims of this research was to test the effectiveness of black cumin flour (N. sativa) in preventing bacterial infections A. hydrophila on catfish (Pangasius hypophthalmus). This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Aquaculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University and Laboratory UPT. Klinik Kesehatan Sriwijaya University since August to September 2013. Research methods using completely randomized design with five treatments and three replications. Catfish fed black cumin flour has added as much as 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% for 14 days, (Catfish fed a feed that added flour black cumin as much as 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% for 14 days) then tested for bacterial challenge with >4. hydrophila 106 cfu.liter'1 through immersion. Parameters observed during the study that the prevalence, survival, growth, leukocytes, hematocrit, and physical chemistry of water. The results showed that the addition of black cumin flour to the fish feed is effective in preventing bacterial infection of A. hydrophila. The best treatment is the addition of black cumin flour as much as 15% which produces prevalence of 2.22%, 88.33% fish survival and growth of fish is higher than the adding treatment of another black cumin flour.
