Abstract

The research was conducted in Bungin Campang and its surrounding area, OKU Selatan, South Sumatra. Field observations were conducted on two formations, namely the Talang Akar Formation and the Baturaja Formation. Rocks found in the Talang Formation are carbonatan and non-carbonatan caused by the transgression and regression phases where the lithology consists of carbonatan sandstone and carbonatan silt. The Baturaja Formation has a lithology consisting of carbonate rocks, namely limestone. Analysis of the lithology of the Baturaja Formation and the Talang Akar Formation aims to determine the depositional environment in the form of the depth of the research location. Data collection in the field is carried out using several research methods, namely the preliminary study stage, field observation, data processing which includes studio analysis and laboratory analysis in the form of petrographic analysis carried out on two thin incision samples and paleontological analysis derived from seven samples to determine the content of fossils found in the sample. Observations of fossils contained in the seven samples consisted of 19 species and 15 bentonik genus namely Buccella, Cibicides, Elphidium, Streblus, Schubertia, Psammatodendron, Haplophragmoides, Uvigerina, Fissurina, Planularia, Amphistegina, Lenticulina, Tubinella, Discorbis and Parafissurina with a total of 778 individuals and, 18 species and 7 genus of planktonik consisting of Cassigerinella, Orbulina, Catapsydrax, Hastigerina, Globigerinoides, Globorotalia, Globigerina with a total of 298 individuals. Based on the results of the P / B calculation, the percentage results obtained are 17.26% - 37.03% where the research location is included in the Inner Neritic - Middle Neritic bathymetry zone. Analysis of the division point based on the type of species obtained as large as 43.92 m at LP 1 and 206 m at LP 7. The relationship between the bathymetry environment and temperature using graph plotting so that the temperature of the research location is 17-18oC. The six research locations have a temperature of 14-15oC which is included in the thermocline layer. The research area is dominated by hyposaline lagoon environment from the results of plotting the number of species and individuals of benthic foraminifera fossils and obtained paleoecological environment in the research area which is divided into 2 environments namely Hyposaline Marshes located in LP 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and Normal Marine Marshes located in LP 3 with diversity index α1 - α2.
