Abstract

This study entitled “Social Capital Of Shrimp Farmers In Shrimp Farming Business In Bumi Pratama mandira village Sungai Menang District Ogan Komering Ilir Regency”. This research aims to find out how the social capital of shrimp farmers is in running a shrimp cultivation business. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative by determining informant using triangulation techniques. Data collection techniques use observation, indepth interview, and documentation. Analyzed using Robert David Putnam’s Social Capital theory. The result of this research show that there are 3 elements of social capital that exist between shrimp farmers and investors, namely networks, trust and norms. (1) Network, there is a process built by shrimp farmers to obtain sources of capital, namely collaborating with investors, and some use their own capital, (2) Trust, in terms of lending capital between investors and shrimp farmers who prioritize honesty, (3 ) Norms that must be obeyed by shrimp farmers are bio security, mutual cooperation during harvest, the harvest is handed over to investors for the sustainability of the shrimp farming business Keywords: Social Capital, Shrimp Farmers, Shrimp Farming Business
