Abstract
The objective of the research was to know the response of S. litura larvae to various plant concentration of bitter melon. The research was conducted at Laboratoiy of Entomology Plant Pests and Diseases Department, Agricultural Faculty Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, ffom July until September 2004. The research was arranged in completely randomized design with using six treatments and four replications. The parameter were the mortality of larvae, the feeding ability, pupae forming ability, and adult emerging. The result showed that the plant extract of the bitter melon with various concentrations affected the mortality of larvae, pupae forming ability, and adult emerging, but not effected towards feeding ability of larvae. The average of the highest percentage mortality of larvae S. litura was on 4 percent treatment i.e. 75 percent, while the lowest degree on control i.e. 10 percent. The average of the highest percentage feeding ability of larvae was on control i.e. 75,73 percent, while the lowest degree on 4 percent treatment i.e. 28,7 percent. For the average of the highest percentage pupae forming ability was on control i.e. 90 percent, while the lowest degree on 4 percent treatment i.e. 25 percent. For the average of the highest percentage adult emerging was on control i.e. 60 percent, while the lowest degree 4 percent and 5 percent treatment i.e. 10 percent.
