Abstract

The information of cabbage bug, E. pulchrum has not becn cxplored largcly. The purpose of this research was to observe the morphology and life eyele of this bug. This research was conducted in Laboratory of Entomology Department of Pcst and Discascs University of Sriwijaya from March to May 2006. The data were deseribe in the tabulation. 1 he result showed that the dcvelopment egg were 5,00-5,33 days, periode of nimph 1-5 were 2.12-3.40; 3.66- 4.15; 2.09-2.75; 3.30-3.75; 5.50-6.43 days. Reproduction were 3.30-5.60 days. fecundity were 12.0-121.00 eggs and the egg morphology liked small barrel were long 0.97 ± 0.02 mm and width 0.81 ± 0.05 mm. The first instar was orangc, oval with long 1.1 4 ± 0.08 mm and width 0.94 ± 0.04 mm. The second instar to fifth instar were also orange to dark orange with long and width 1.43 ± 0.10 mm and 1.32 ± 0.05 mm; 2.11 ± 0.08 mm and 2.05 ± 0.68 mm; 4.16 ± 0.05 mm and 3.21± 0.27 mm; 5.16 ±.0.10 mm and 4.20 ±0.18 mm. The life eyele of bug from egg to adult wefe 28.27-46.41 days. The female bug were long 9,24 ± 0,89 mm and width 5.03 ± 0.05 mm but the male bug were long 7.61 ± 0.53 mm and width 3.42 ± 0.43 mm.
