Abstract
The objective of the research was to investigate the effect of dipping time with potassium permanganate to obstruct anthracnose on red pepper. The research was conducted in Phytopathological Laboratory of Plant Pests and Disease Department Agriculture Faculty Sriwijaya University, Inderalaya from October to December 2005. The research was arranged in Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and five replications and each treatment consisted of three red peppers. Parameters observed were incubation period, number of spot, lesion of size spot, and disease incidence. The results showed that the effect of dipping time with potassium permanganate by red pepper significantly affected the incubation period, number of spot, and lesion size of spot. The treatment of dipping time in 30 minutes was found to be the best time to obstruct anthracnose by chilli fruits compared to other dipping times.
