Abstract

Cowpea bean (Vignasinensis L.) is a very popular vegetable in Indonesiaand worldwide. Cowpea (Vignasinensis L.) is highly demanded by various people in the community, from children to adult. Cucumber (iCucumissativus L.) is one of horticultural crops frequently cultivated by farmers in Indonesia, cucumber C.sativus L. is a vegetable commonly consumed as fresh vegetable. Nutrient value of cucumber is very good as the source of vitamins and minerals. This research was aimed at studying the diversity of predator arthropod, parasitoid and pollinator insects in the intercropping of cowpea and cucumber treated with Bacillus thuriingiensis bio-pesticide, Chemical pesticide, and untreated. To investigate the effect of Bacillus thuriingiensison insect, each dead insect due to the treatment was taken to laboratory for further investigation using Postulate Koch procedure. The experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments consisted of B. thuringiensis, Chemical pesticide and control. The results showed that some insects were trapped by pitfall trap and yellow tray trap. The trapped insects were identified visually under microscope and identification book i.e. Borror et al (1992) and Kalshoven (1981). Predator spiders Oxyopes jacksoniin cowpea bean (K/gwasinensis) cultivation were mostly trapped by pitfall trap, while red ants Formica biophiliccrwere mostly trapped by yellow tray s.Visual identification had identified Oxyopesjacfcsoni, Micraspisfrenata, Paederusfuscipes, Zosteriasp, andCoccinellasp, Trigonasp.
