Abstract

The rubber plant (Hevea brasiliensis) was one of the plantation commodities that produces natural latex (sap) in the world which has an important role in the economy in Indonesia. Along with the increase in the area of community and government rubber plantations, it was very necessary to increasethe productivity of rubber plants, one of them was by preparing quality superior seeds. This reseacrh aims to determine the effect of giving a dose of banana stem compost and the best dose of banana stem compost on the growth of rubber stump GT 1 clone stage umbrella two. This research was carried out at the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra, start from September 2023 and ends in Januari 2024. The design used in this reseach was the Randomized Block Design method which consists of six treatment levels and four group and each group consists of three plants, so there were 72 plants. The treatment in this study were banana stem compost P0 = control, P1 = 200 g.stump-1, P2 = 300 g.stump -1, P3 = 400 g.stump -1, P4 = 500 g.stump -1 and P5 = 600 g.stump -1. Parameters observed included plant height, number of leaves, number of leaf stalks, number of umbrellas, level of greenness of leaves and leaf area. The results of this research concluded that the addition 500 g.stump-1 of banana stem compost had a very significant effect on the growth of GT 1 rubber stump, it was able to increase the plant height (28.34%), the number of leaves (27.26%) and specific leaf area (32.88%) compared to no treatment (control).
