Abstract

The economic health of a country can be measured through its banking sector, which plays a vital role in maintaining monetary stability. This study aims to analyze the effects of Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR), Non-Performing Financing (NPF), and Operating Expenses to Operating Income (BOPO) on Return on Assets (ROA) in Sharia Commercial Banks (BUS) in Indonesia from 2018 to 2023. Using a quantitative method with secondary data, the research analyzes financial ratios to assess the financial performance of Islamic banks. The results show that CAR and FDR have a significant positive effect on ROA, indicating that increases in capital and financing efficiency contribute to profitability. Conversely, NPF and BOPO exhibit a significant negative effect, where increases in these ratios can decrease the financial performance of the banks. Overall, the combination of these four variables significantly influences ROA, emphasizing the importance of effective management to enhance the efficiency and profitability of Islamic banking. This study recommends bank management to continuously improve asset utilization and encourages customers to understand the factors affecting ROA to make better investment decisions.
