Abstract

This research aims to explain how the presence of the music group IZ*ONE is a form of cultural diplomacy in the dynamics of bilateral relations between South Korea and Japan. This research focuses on the influence of IZ*ONE as a global music group resulting from collaboration between Korea and Japan in diluting the tensions and sentiments that exist in the people of both countries due to complex political and historical factors. This research was analyzed using the Cultural Diplomacy Theory according to Milton C. Cummings to look at the existing indicators and dimensions. The research method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method which aims to explain the influence of IZ*ONE's presence as cultural diplomacy in bilateral relations between South Korea and Japan in depth through data analysis steps using theories and concepts as explanatory material. The data used in this research was obtained through literature studies, online documentation, and online data searches. The results of the research show that IZ*ONE's presence as cultural diplomacy by looking at the cultural elements they use, has succeeded in improving bilateral relations between South Korea and Japan in a better direction at a certain level.
