Abstract

The aims of this study were determine lethal toxicity and sub lethal toxicity test of palm oil liquid waste to erythrocytes total, leukocytes total and blood glucose levels of catfish {Pangasius sp.). The research was held from May until June 2013 at Laboratory of Basic Fisheries, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya, Indralaya. The research used Completely Randomized Designed with seven treatments and three replications. The animal tested of this research was catfish (10 cm± 0,2 cm). The treatments of lethal toxicity test were 0 mL.L'1 (A), 13.18 mL.L'1 (B), 13.89 mL.L'1 (C), 14.63 mL.L'1 (D), 15.40 mL.L'1 (E), 16.21 mL.L'1 (?) and 17.06 mL.L'1 (G). The treatments of sub lethal toxicity test were 0.00 mL.L'1 (A), 0.07 mL.L'1 (B), 0.14 mL.L'1 (C), 0.88 mL.L'1 (D), 1.77 mL.L'1 (E), 3.54 mL.L'1 (F) and 7.06 mL.L'1 (G). The results of lethal toxicity using probit analysis showed that LC50 value 96 hour to catfish was 14.12 mL.L'1. Range of physical and Chemical media during lethal toxicity test were temperature (28-29°C), pH (6.6-7.0), dissolved oxygen (1.38-4.37 mg.L'1) and ammonia (0.002-0.058 mg.L'1). The results of sub lethal toxicity showed that palm oil liquid waste was significant to survival rate of catfish. Range of physical and Chemical media during lethal toxicity test were temperature (27-29°C), pH (6.6-7.0), dissolved oxygen (2.88-4.45 mg.L'1) and ammonia (0.002-0.024 mg.L'1). The concentration 0,07 mL.L*1 of palm oil Iiquid waste were decreased erythrocyte total, but increased leukocytes total and blood glucose levels of catfish. The decrease of total fish erythrocyte can be caused by damage to blood cell exposed waste water while increasing total of leukocyte and blood glucose level is a defensive of fish to against the stress factor when exposed the palm oil liquid waste.
