Abstract

The increasing offuel price gives negative effect directly, especially for fishermen around the Coastal area, it makes their economy condition become worse. Coconut trees which grow near the source of water, basically have a high quality of growing and producing. Based on these ideas, research on the effect of adding coconut oil to the dex diesel of exhaust emissions and fuel consumption, using the generator engine type R J 75 Diesel Engine, as a tool t o lest the fuel consumption, and exhaust emissions with a mixture of coconut oil 2,5% -10%. Mixing coconut oil is very influential in determining heating value, viscosity, flash point. The more oil that is mixed, the greater of the viscosity, and flash point which are obtained, but the calorific. This is because the viscosity andflash point of coconut oil is very high but the calorific value is low. The amount of fuel consumption is affected by the load/rounds which are given, the more/larger given load on the engine, the less time is needed to fuel consumption. The results of exhaust emissions, the value of CO, CO2, and HC, does not change too much.
