Abstract

The “YN” field is located in the Central Palembang Sub Basin area of the Talang Akar formation which consists of sandstone which is quite good as a place for hydrocarbon accumulation. This research uses a model-based seismic acoustic impedance inversion method to obtain acoustic impedance distribution values. Conversion of seismic wiggle into acoustic impedance makes the subsurface display more accurate and increases seismic resolution with two well data (Well A and Well B) as control. In this research, the estimated target zone was chosen at the Top 1st horizon and Base 2nd with a depth range 1504 – 1720 ft with the main reference being log GR values <120 api and low acoustic impedance indicating a permeable zone which is interpreted as a sandstone layer. The results of the model-based inversion showed acoustic impedance distribution ranges from 20500 – 31112 ((ft/s)* (g/cc)) and the distribution of sandstone ranges from 19285.10 – 22656.09 ((ft/s)*(g/cc)) for the Top 1st horizon with clean sand type lithological characteristic in well A and 20065.79 – 23008.29 ((ft/s)*(g/cc)) for the Base 2nd horizon with shaly sand type lithological characteristic.
