Abstract

Rubber is one of the plantation commodities that has played an important role in the Indonesian economy from the past until now. Rubber plants have a very important role, both economically and socially. As a leading plantation commodity, rubber makes a significant contribution to the national and regional economy. Rubber cultivation can also create jobs and increase income for the community, especially in rural areas. To develop the rubber farming business, it is necessary to understand the internal and external factors. The objectives of this study are (1) to identify the internal and external factors that influence the development of the rubber farming business in Tanjung Dayang Selatan Village, Indralaya Selatan Subdistrict, Ogan Ilir Regency, and (2) to analyze the rubber farming business development strategy. This research is a qualitative research that is descriptive in nature and tends to use inductive analysis and approaches. The object of this research is the rubber farming business development strategy. Data analysis was performed using IFAS, EFAS, and SWOT matrix analysis. The results showed that the strategy used is the S-O (strength-opportunities) strategy, which utilizes the available resources and implements good rubber cultivation to meet the demand and increase the selling price of rubber latex. This can be seen from the results of the SWOT analysis, where the IFAS (Internal Strategic Factor Summary) value of 3.3 is higher than the EFAS (External Strategic Factor Summary) value of 2.4. Therefore, it can be concluded that the internal factors for the development of the rubber farming business are more dominant than the external factors.
