Abstract

This study investigates the factors that cause the linkage between forest exploitation and human rights violations in Papua. The analyzed factors include social and economic inequalities, indigenous community rights, violence and armed conflict, as well as corruption and abuse of power. This research employs a qualitative approach to collect and analyze data from various sources, including case reports and field studies. The results indicate that forest exploitation in Papua often exacerbates social and economic inequalities, threatens the rights of indigenous communities, and triggers violence and armed conflict. Moreover, corruption and abuse of power are significant factors that worsen this condition. The implications of these findings are the need for stronger protection of indigenous community rights and an increase in transparency and accountability in the management of natural resources in Papua.
