Abstract

The Strait of Malacca is one of the busiest straits in the world. It has extremely high traffic, with tens of thousands of vessels passing through or transiting in the strait. This makes security in the Strait of Malacca a primary concern for both countries that utilize it as a trade route and for countries with jurisdiction over the strait, such as Indonesia. This study employs Christian Buerger's maritime security concept (the matrix framework), which categorizes maritime security into four components: Marine Safety, Sea Power, Blue Economy, and Resilience. It aims to examine Indonesia's efforts in maintaining security in the Strait of Malacca from 2014 to 2019 more clearly. The data used is qualitative and collected from previous research studies.
