Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a small side game (SSG) based soccer endurance training model to increase the VO2Max of soccer players aged 15-17 years. The method used in this research is the research and development (R&D) research method from Borg and Gall. The research design was a pre test-post test control group design. The subjects in this study were football players aged 15-17 years and involved 5 football clubs, 1 club for a small group trial, namely the Indonesia Muda Palembang club with 15 players, in this large group trial the researcher conducted 2 clubs in City of Palembang with details: 25 players from the Putra Sunda club and 25 players from the Agak-Igik FC club. Whereas for the effectiveness test there were 2 clubs, namely for the experimental group the Persime Muara Enim club and for the control group the Bhayangkara FC club, each of which consisted of 23 players. The stages in this research and development are: 1) needs analysis, 2) expert validation, 3) small group trials, 4) large group trials, and 5) effectiveness tests. The instruments used in the study were: a) interviews and questionnaires for model development, b) Yo-Yo Intermitten Recovery Test Level 1 (Yo-Yo IR test) to collect VO2Max data. Data analysis in this study used the statistical method paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test using SPSS V26 to see the effectiveness of the endurance training model. The results of data analysis showed that there was a higher increase in VO2Max in the experimental group than the control group with a mean difference of 3.81, so it can be concluded that the small side game (SSG) based soccer endurance training model is more effective than the conventional training model in increasing the VO2Max of football players aged 15-17 years.
