Abstract

This study attempts to examine Jessica Wongso's image restoration tactics in online media coverage of the film "Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee, and Jessica Wongso." A Corpus-Assisted Discourse Study was utilized to discover and evaluate the use of William Benoit's proposed picture correction procedures. Data were gathered from numerous internet media publications about the film and incidents involving Jessica Wongso. The findings revealed five image restoration tactics mentioned in the news: denial, shifting responsibility, justification, limiting negative affects, and admitting faults. These findings demonstrate how online media frames Jessica Wongso's image repair attempts and how these methods are applied in various news situations. This study contributes significantly to our understanding of media discourse and public perception in controversial instances in Indonesia.
