Abstract

Main Office of PT. PLN (Persero) Generation Sumbagsel is located on the edge of the city road which is passed by thousands vehicles every day, it is designed multi-storey with closed window and using Air Conditioner as regulator of air circulation. Indoor air quality can affect the comfort and health of the building occupants. Bad air quality can cause various health problems, one of them is Sick Building Syndrome (SBS). SBS is an important thing to consider because it have an impact on the decrease of work productivity and work concentration. The objective of this study was to analyze the risk factors of SBS complaints to the employees of Main Office of PT. PLN (Persero) Generation Sumbagsel. The study was an analytic descriptive in cross-sectional design. The population of this study was all of the employees of Main Office of PT. PLN (Persero) Generation Sumbagsel with 78 samples. Sampling was done by cluster sampling technique. The results showed that 74,4% employees of Main Office of PT. PLN (Persero) Generation Sumbagsel had complaints of SBS. From the results of chi square tests, variables which had correlation with SBS complaints were light intensity, age, and gender. Among the variables that have correlation with complaints of SBS, light intensity is a variable that can be intervened to do improvement by changing the lamp design so the lighting will spread throughtout the room.
