Abstract
The objective of this research was to observe the effect of compound fertilizer on the growth of pruned citrus trees. This research was conducted at the research station Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University ffom March 2004 to August 2004. Research method was Randomized Complete BIock Design (RCBD) with four treatments and four replications. Each treatment consists of two plants. The treatment were : PI (100 g compound fertilizer per plant), P2 (150 g compound fertilizer per plant), P3 (200 g compound fertilizer per plant) and P4 (250 g compound fertilizer per plant). As a control there were unpruned and unfertilizer as wel citrus trees (P0). The variables observed in this research were the increment of stem diameter, the time of bud break, the amount of shoots, the time of flowering, the amount of flowers, and the amount of productive shoots. The result of the research showed that compound fertilizer significantly affected the increment of stem diameter and the amount of shoots. Where as the time of bud break, the time of flowering, the amount of flowers, and the amount of productive shoots were not significantly different. The best results was P2 treatment, 150 g compound fertilizer. The treated trees have the increment of stem diameter 1,71 cm, the time of bud break 8,75 days, the amount of shoots 51,88, the time of flowering 124,63 days, the amount of flowers 44,50 and the amount of productive shoots 31,88. Whereas the lowest was P0 (unpruned and unfertilizer). The trees have the increment of stem diameter of 0,88 cm, the time of bud break 121,63 days, and the amount of shoots 17,75.
