Abstract

The use of a heat pipe cooling is an alternative to absorb the heat generated by the CPU. This study aims to determine the effect of the type of wick , volume of fluid and position of heat pipe on the rate of heat transfer. Wick used is of type I ( 100 mesh ) , wick type II ( 200 mesh ) and a wick type III ( copper mesh ) with a fluid volume of each 1/3 , 1/2 and 2/3 of the volume of the tube . Tesis carried out on pipes with a length of 85 cm and a diameter of 1.27 cm in the vertical position, inelination of 45 ° and horizontal. Thermocouple measuring point is positioned on the surface area of the evaporator and water pipes on the bottle . The rate of heat transfer can be measured by the magnitude of the increase in temperature in the water in the bottle . Il can be seen that the heat transfer rate of the average of the most well there in testing wick heat pipe fluid type II with half the volume of the tube in a vertical position that is able to transfer heat at 49.18 watts.
