Abstract
The cultivation of striped snakehead in South Sumatra has a very large opportunity seen from the strategic environment and the available potential The low value of feed efficiency in striped snakehead is one of the obstacles experienced in striped snakehead fish farming. Addition of bacteria from swamp as probiotics to feed is an altemative to increase feed efficiency in striped snakehead. The purpose of this study was to determine the total number of bacteria in the intestine of striped snakehead fish fed with the addition of swamp bacteria and their effects on feed efficiency, growth, and survival in striped snakehead. The research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 0 (control), 1 {Bacillus sp. (106 CFU.ml"1) 10 ml.kg'1 feed), 2 {Streptomyces sp. (106 CFU.ml'1) 10 ml.kg'1 of feed), 3 {Bacillus sp. (106 CFU.ml'1) 5 ml.kg''of feed and Streptomyces sp. (106 CFU.ml'1) 5 ml.kg-,of feed). Each treatment was replicated three times. The results showed that the addition of probiotic candidate bacteria from swamp in 3 feed gave the results density of Bacillus sp. in intestines 2,99 x 107 CFU.ml"1 and Streptomyces sp. 3,24 x 107 CFU.ml'1, feed efficiency 74,33%, weight growth of 3,22 g and length growth of 1,74 cm, and survival rate 82,22%.
