Abstract

Belt Conveyor is a used tool to material distributed, both bulk material and unit material, from place to place constantly. This experiment aimed to analyze the effect of vulcanizing on Belt Conveyor Steel Cord. Belt Conveyor specimen type Steel Cord and Steel Cord that in doing vulcanizing obtained from PT. Bukit Asam Persero Tbk. Belt be cut each Steel then performed tensile testing in Politeknik Sriwijaya. Result of study obtained that influced vulcanizing mechanical properties of Belt Conveyor. Tensile strength of Belt Conveyor Steel Cord is 6,39 N/mm2, 6,51 N/mm2, 6,6 N/mm2, and Belt Conveyor Steel Cord with vulcanizing is 5,03 N/mm2, 4,25 N/mm2, 5,97 N/mm2. Strain of Belt Conveyor Steel Cord specimen is 23 %, 24%, 26%, and Belt Conveyor Steel Cord specimen with vulcanizing is 21%, 22%, 22%. Modulus Young of Belt Conveyor Steel Cord is 5,98 N/mm2, and with vulcanizing is 0,43 N/mm2.
