Abstract

optimal density. Stocking density is one of the important factors influencing the culture production of glass eel A. bicolor bicolor. Increasing density in fish farming creates competition for oxygen, feed and space, which will affect the production of glass eel A. bicolor bicolor. The aim of this research was to increase the production of glass eel A. bicolor bicolor at a higher density using swamp water in the recirculation system. This research was carried out at the Aquaculture and Experimental Pond Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Fisheries Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sriwijaya from April-May 2024. This research used a completely randomized design consisting of five treatments and three replications with differences in density of glass eel A. bicolor bicolor, namely 6 glass eel L-1 (P1), 7 glass eel L-1 (P2), 8 glass eel L-1 (P3), 9 glass eel L-1 (P4) and 10 glass eel L-1 (P5). The results showed that increasing density to 10 glass eel A. bicolor bicolor L-1 (P5) obtained the best results with biomass glass eel A. bicolor bicolor of 149.50±1.35 g, survival rate was 91.29±1.15%, absolute weight growth was 0.64±0.02 g, absolute length growth was 1.67±0.09 cm, body fluid glucose level was 127.40±9.57 mg dL-1 and feed efficiency was 86.90%. The higher the glass eel stocking density caused a significant difference in the lower dissolved oxygen values and higher ammonia and turbidity values. Water quality value for all treatments during rearing period was still supports survival rate glass eel A. bicolor bicolor, namely temperature 28.97-30.70°C, pH 7.4-7.8, ammonia 0.03-0.17 mg L-1, oxygen dissolved 6.02-6.33 mg L-1, alkalinity 31.33-48.00 mg L-1 and turbidity 0.85-2.17 NTU.
