Abstract
Malaria elimination is one of the main goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as it continues to be a significant public health challenge. A strong surveillance system is essential to eliminate this disease, allowing for quick detection and response to outbreaks. The aim of the research is to analyze malaria elimination based on the implementation of the epidemiological investigation program (PE) 1-2-5 in Muara Enim Regency. The research uses a qualitative design, with data collected through focus group discussions, in-depth interviews with 28 informants selected through purposive sampling, field observations, and document analysis. Triangulation of methods and sources is used to validate data. The research results indicate that the PE 1-2-5 program in Muara Enim Regency is not yet optimal due to insufficient staff training in handling and understanding malaria programs, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, low regional budget allocation, the absence of local regulations regarding malaria, and delays in case notifications from hospitals and village midwives. The mapping of receptivity was carried out based on point surveys, but the staff has not conducted the focus mapping due to a lack of entomology experts. The API and PR values in Muara Enim Regency have been met, but indigenous cases were still found in 2020 and 2022. The implementation of PE 1-2-5 and malaria treatment according to standards has reached 100% in the last three years. In conclusion, the application of inputs (human resources, facilities and infrastructure, budget, and standard operating procedures) that meet the standards, as well as the effective implementation of process components (classification of positive cases, contact surveys, environmental surveys, behavioral surveys, receptivity mapping, and focus mapping) is necessary to achieve malaria elimination.
