Abstract

This research examines the affection exchange between teachers and students with disabilities at the Lubuklinggau State Special School. The aim of the research was to determine the affection exchange between teachers and students with disabilities at the Lubuklinggau State Special School. Researchers looked more closely at observations at the Lubuklinggau State Special School for disabled children, specifically for autistic children. Autistic children are children who experience complex problems with their neurological disorders. The impacts that arise due to problems with the nerves include difficulty interacting, verbal communication, difficulty speaking and difficulties with social motor skills. This research uses the AET (Affection Exchange Theory) theory according to Kory Floyd, Jeff and Hesse. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data Collection Techniques through Observation, interviews and documentation. The research results show that there is an exchange of affection between teachers towards students with disabilities at the Lubuklinggau State Special School, namely seen from First, Emotional: support where the teacher plays an important role in providing a feeling of comfort to students, giving praise as a form of appreciation and attention. Second, Cognitive: support: GPK gets sources of information from students' parents, there is special direction for students with special needs considering that their actions and attitudes sometimes change, then GPK provides extraordinary advice to students. Third, supporting materials: GPK has easy access to provide affection services to students through the facilities and infrastructure provided at school, GPK will continue to think positively because this is able to influence the attitudes and actions of children with special needs with autism who are very sensitive to their feelings, then GPK will direct students to become children who are always loved by parents and teachers so that they feel like the children they want.
