Abstract

This research aims to study and find out some of the physical properties of the soil include soil texture, soil water content, bulk density, and total soil pore and also to study the nature and characteristics of Lado trenches and mapped the Lado trench as water system network. This study was conducted on May — November 2013 in Teluk Payo Village Sungsang Sub-district Banyuansin District South Sumatera. The method used in this research is a survey of detail level with 1:20.000 scale and ± 20 ha land of reasearch area. Soil sampling conducted a total of 12 soil samples consisting of 4 samples in base point of Parit Lado trenches, 4 samples in the middle of Lado trenches and 4 samples in cape of Lado trenches. From the results of a study of the physical properties of the soil texture of the soil obtained in the study site is soil texture; loamy sand, loamy clay and loam. The percentage of total soil pore is 65% - 80% and has bulk density 0,54 g cm'3 - 0,94 g cm3. Soil permeability has criteria highly excessive, excessive and moderately excessive. Moreover, soil layer in the 30 - 60 cm depth has dominated by clay, loamy clay and loamy silt.
